Ornithologist and nature artist actively involved in several conservation efforts and environmental education programs in Ecuador. He is a pioneer in the publication of illustrated books about the birds of Ecuador like "Introduction to the birds of Ecuador" (in co-authorship with Fernando Ortiz Crespo) and "Aves de Quito, portraits and encounters"

He is currently developing a personal conservation project in the Andean cloudforests of the northwest of Quito: "Tambo Quinde" a Biodiversity Monitoring and Environmental Education Station in the Tandayapa Valley, where he established his home.
